Police Operation at the St. Joseph Orphanage at Delmas 91.

ROUGH TRANSLATION:NEWS FLASH!

The Brigade for the Protection of Minors of the Haitian National Police (BPM?HNP), UNICEF and the Chief Inspector of IBERS (Social Welfare Institute) conducted a police operation at the St. Joseph orphanage in the Delmas 91 area on the afternoon of Monday, February 3, 2014. Reporters from the Associated Press where present to see a bus used to carry the children in the orphanage, police and IBERS cars.

Since this past Friday, information has circulated on the conclusions of several reports that recommended the closure of this orphanage described by various youth as a place of sexual exploitation and conspiracy. In late 2013, Richie Ruiz, a former resident of this orphanage, was arrested in the town of Jacmel with a gun that had been used in a murder of a Haitian police officer. According to the young Richie, the weapon in question belongs to Walnes Cangas, Assistant Director of St. Joseph Home for Boys, Delmas 91. Richie is still being held in the case; the DCPJ (Central Directorate of the Police) will continue to investigate. According to Richie, he is a witness against Michael Geilenfeld, and was sexually abused.

According to our sources, three (3) investigations are underway on this house for street boys; the Embassy of the US, IBERS and the Haitian National Police.

The closure of the St. Joseph orphanage would allow young victims from 2003, the year of the US Anti-pedophile law was put into effect, to testify against Geilenfeld. This would lead to the arrest of the former priest and alleged pedophile, to be arrested by US authorities. Unfortunately, the slowness with which the Haitian state has reacted has allowed the accused to place children elsewhere.

Information circulating around the Fermathe area has reported maneuvres aimed at placing some of the children with families. Michael Geilenfeld seems determined to keep them away from investigators.

Cyrus Sibert – Reseaucitadell, Paul Kendrick and other anti-pedophile activists await the head of the St. Joseph orphanage to deliver a detailed report to the Haitian authorities with the names of the children, their age, and their new addresses. Normally considering the importance of the interests at stake, these children should be supported in a witness protection program.

It should be mentioned that since February 1, 2014, at the Best Western Hotel in Petionville, American justice officers have been collecting, under oath, the evidence from several young Haitians that are claiming to have been victims of sexual abuse on the part of Michael Geilenfeld, during their stay at St. Joseph Home at Delmas 91.
