U.S. Ambassador Pamela White, welcome Jetblue's new service to Haiti.

In remarks welcoming Jet Blue’s new service to Haiti, U.S. Ambassador Pamela White highlighted that these additional flights between the United States and Haiti offer additional options to travelers.--

Ambassador White attended a welcome cocktail yesterday at the Diplomatic lounge of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince along with the Minister of Tourism Ms. Stephanie B. Villedrouin; the Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in New York, Mr. Charles A. Fobin; Haiti’s Ambassador to the United States, Paul Altidor; Jeff Goodell, James Hnat and Mrs. Elsy Viala, of JetBlue Airways and other distinguished guests.

According to Ambassador White: “The Government of Haiti has identified the tourism sector as a key engine of economic growth, and is enthusiastically promoting investment in tourism. JetBlue is making a real contribution to that effort. With three new airports, renovations at many of Haiti’s historic sites, brand new five star hotels and a dynamic Minister, I think Haiti’s tourism sector is going on steroids in 2014”.

JetBlue is an American company well known for its low fares and award-winning service. “We applaud you for being committed to maintaining the highest standards and in improving the lives of your customers and the communities you serve,” said Ambassador White.

She contionued, “It is often said that Haiti is open for business. JetBlue’s new service makes sure that Haiti is open every day, not only for business. It will make Haiti more accessible to the thousands of people who already love her and for those who are waiting to discover this rich country. I wish you all the best and may this only be the start of a wonderful partnership between JetBlue and Haiti”.

The official announcement of JetBlue flights to Haiti was made in May 2013. The company has daily roundtrips flights from Port-au-Prince to the United States on a flight to John F. Kennedy International Airpot in New York (JFK) and two flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) International Airport.
