Advocates for the protection of children are calling about Michael McCooey, Chairman of the Haiti Fund, Inc., to stop keeping secrets about the reopening of Project Pierre Toussaint in Cap Haitien, Haiti.

Advocates fear that McCooey of Rye, NY, has promised his silence (about what happened in the past) to Fairfield University and Order of Malta officials in exchange for funds to help reopen the school.

Fairfield University and Malta officials have links to the school in Haiti.

McCooey has refused to answer questions about how much money has recently been donated to the Haiti Fund from Fairfield University and Malta.

McCooey has refused to answer questions about what systems, policies and procedures are going to be put in place to protect the students from further abuse.

McCooey has refused to provide the name of the Fairfield University official who is being appointed to the Haiti Fund board per order of Fairfield University President, Rev. Jeffrey von Arx, S.J.

Secrets are unacceptable, Mr. McCooey.
